Picture a child sitting quietly, their eyes downcast, their story too heavy to speak aloud. After enduring unimaginable trauma, even a forensic interview couldn’t unlock the pain they carried. Words failed them – but art didn’t.
With the help of Artvango, a Heart Galleries of Texas post-adoption funding partner specializing in art therapy, this child was given a new way to share their story. Artvango shared how in a safe, nurturing space, the child picked up crayons and paintbrushes, and slowly, art began to reveal what words could not—a story of emotional, physical, and sexual trauma that had remained unspoken for far too long.
Today, that child is safe and thriving in their adoptive home. Their once-quiet voice grows stronger every day, and their parents now have the tools to understand and support them. Together, they are healing as a family, one step and one piece of art at a time.
The Heart Galleries of Texas is pleased to announce the release of the FY 2026–2027 Request for Applications (RFA) to support post-adoption and post-permanency services across Texas.
