On May 20, the First Lady of Texas, Cecilia Abbott, joined the Heart Gallery of South Texas for the unveiling of a permanent exhibit at the McAllen Public Library. The special event, hosted in partnership with the City of McAllen, Mayor Javier Villalobos, the McAllen Public Library, and the McAllen International Airport, served as a meaningful reminder of what can happen when communities come together to support children and families across Texas.
The unveiling celebrated not only a permanent exhibit in the library, but also the announcement of a future permanent exhibit at McAllen International Airport—creating even more opportunities to raise awareness for youth in foster care waiting for connection and permanency. We are deeply grateful to Mrs. Abbott for her continued support of Heart Galleries throughout Texas and for using her voice to champion children in foster care.Â
