Heart Gallery of Texas

supporting mental health

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, a time to recognize the importance of emotional well-being and shine a light on how our Texas community shares support. For families who have adopted through the Heart Gallery and beyond, the journey doesn’t end with placement—it continues with the ongoing need for connection, healing, and support. That’s where our post-adoption services come in.

Our community partners throughout Texas offer a broad spectrum of mental health supports designed to strengthen not just the child, but the entire family. From traditional individual and family therapy to activities that promote bonding, joy, and resilience, our services are built to meet families where they are. Mental wellness isn’t a one-size-fits-all solution; it requires creativity, consistency, and community.

One inspiring example comes from a family who adopted their child from the Heart Gallery just last year. With access to ongoing post-adoption resources including counseling, educational support, and family-centered activities, they’ve felt seen, heard, and uplifted. In fact, the experience has been so impactful that they are now preparing to adopt their child’s biological sibling, extending their family and deepening their commitment to keeping siblings together.

Stories like these remind us why both post-adoption and mental health supports are so essential to the success of adoptive families. This month, and every month, we celebrate the strength of these families and renew our commitment to walking alongside them on their journey.
